About
Most accounting software assumes a business you don't run.
It assumes a fixed tax jurisdiction, a card-based checkout, and a business that either sells online or in a shop — not both, not through a marketplace that settles its own commission and shipping deductions on its own schedule. For a huge number of real small businesses, especially outside the markets most accounting software is built for, none of that is true.
SME Suite started from the opposite direction: build the ledger first, generic enough for any country's tax rules, then build outward — invoicing, inventory, payroll, CRM — one module at a time, each one posting into the same journal instead of keeping its own quiet set of numbers. The Jumia integration exists because it's a real, common workflow that no accounting tool actually addresses: buy an item to fulfill an order, ship it, and reconcile a settlement statement that arrives in pieces over a week.
The result is a small, deliberate set of decisions: every entry is checked for balance twice, nothing is ever silently edited — corrections are reversals, not overwrites — and every table is scoped to your organization so multi-tenancy is a guarantee, not an assumption. None of that is exciting to market. It's the part that matters when the numbers need to be right.
How we build
Phased, not half-built
Each module ships complete — verified end-to-end — before the next one starts.
Generic by default
No hardcoded tax rules or currency assumptions. Country-specific packs come later, without a rewrite.
The ledger is the truth
Reports are derived, never a separate summary. If the numbers disagree, that's a bug, not a sync delay.
